A Place For All

Temple Sinai is our home. It’s our community. It's our way of preserving Jewish traditions in a warm, loving environment. We strive to be a place for all, an inclusive place where everyone is comfortable to learn, pray, and connect. We are a community where people are valued equally. If you are in need of an accommodation that is not currently available, please contact the office to discuss or include a note when registering for a program.

Mobility Access

Temple Sinai is accessible for those using a wheelchair or other mobility aid. There is signage indicating handicap parking spaces nearest to our main entry doors. Our main entrance is level to the road with an electric push button access door. The sanctuary, social hall, community room, youth room, and main office space are on the ground floor. In our sanctuary, there is a ramp for access to the bima and the aisle is wide enough for a wheelchair to be alongside the row. Alternatively, chairs can be removed so you may sit within the row. There is also ample space between the bima and first row of chairs to accommodate a wheelchair. In addition, both of our bathrooms have an ADA-compliant bathroom stall. We have also installed an ADA-compliant water fountain/bottle filler near the bathrooms. Unfortunately, access to our religious school wing involves stairs going both up and down from the main floor.

Vision Access & Large Print

For Shabbat and High Holyday services, large-print siddurs are available for in-person use upon request from an usher. There are lighted magnifying glasses located at the entrance to our sanctuary. We do not have a siddur in Braille available. Alternatively, you may download Mishkan T’filah: Shabbat: A Reform Siddur and Mishkan HaNefesh: Machzor for the Days of Awe (High Holydays) on the Kindle app on your personal device, which allows the user to increase text size to their comfort level. When Torah is read, the video will be projected onto the wall in the sanctuary and highlighted on a computer screen.

Auditory Access & Closed Captioning

Ushers can assist in providing auditory support devices during services. Online only and hybrid programs/services use an automated system for closed captioning. Because captions are auto-generated, they may not be entirely accurate, and will not auto-generate when we are speaking or singing in Hebrew.

Sensory Support

Our community room provides a respite for those that need space to decompress. The room may be beneficial for those with sensory overload, nursing parents, or young children who need to get some extra wiggles out. You can find books and a sensory kit for use. The kit is built for adults and children and includes items like a small weighted blanket, headphones, sunglasses, fidgets, and more. These items may be taken into the sanctuary or other spaces as needed. We ask that everything minus the fidgets be returned to the kit afterwards. We are looking to enhance this space with technology that will be able to stream programs and services from the sanctuary.

Hybrid Service and Programs

Nearly all of our Friday evening Shabbat services are offered in a hybrid format. This means you may attend in person, virtually on Zoom, or passively watch on YouTube. We offer many of our programs in this hybrid when we are able. You will be able to participate from anywhere with an Internet connection by using the link and/or login information provided.
