Education

Lifelong learning is Jewish living, rooted in the belief that the pursuit of knowledge and wisdom is a continual and essential part of spiritual and personal growth. Temple Sinai offers a variety of educational programs throughout the year. This occurs through studying Torah and sacred texts, listening to guest speakers, engaging with other area faiths, attending traditional classroom style learning opportunities, and from each other. Jewish teachings emphasize that learning is not only about acquiring knowledge but also about personal development, ethical living, and fostering a deeper understanding of one’s relationship with God and the world. The commitment to lifelong learning underscores the importance of intellectual curiosity, critical thinking, and the perpetual quest for self-improvement and communal enrichment.

To foster lifelong learning, we start engaging our youngest Temple members in learning as early as possible. We welcome children of all ages to attend services, especially our family shabbats held on the first Friday of each month. As children grow, we encourage participating in our Temple Tots, Preschool, and Religious School classes. We don’t teach about Judaism, we live it. While learning, praying, eating or doing mitzvot together, our children learn to see the world through Jewish eyes. Our curriculum and teaching methods aim to pass on to our children Jewish skills, Jewish knowledge, and most importantly, a sense of joy and pride in our Jewish heritage.

For families & adults, our goal is to inspire continued learning. We are pleased to offer a wide variety of classes, guest-speakers, programs and events to help you continue learning and exploring your Jewish faith. Classes truly vary between settings (in person/online), subject, and length of time (some are one-off and some last all throughout the year).

If there is something you like to know more about or if you have a connection that might be of interest to the congregation, please reach out to anyone on the Education committee.
