Learn

Education is a core Jewish value, and at Temple Sinai, we set up our students to be lifelong learners who are well-prepared for their B’nai Mitzvot and who remain active in the community through adulthood. We believe in being responsive to the needs and interests of our congregants, and work to offer programs and opportunities that engage people of all ages.

We are pleased to offer learning for all ages at Temple Sinai, and hope you join us.

Temple Tots

Infants, Toddlers, and Preschoolers are warmly welcomed at Temple Sinai, and we offer programs in and out of the synagogue for families with young children. Temple Tots is a growing program to engage our youngest congregants in age-appropriate Jewish activities.

Religious School

Kindergartners through fourth graders attend religious school on Sunday mornings, where we believe in balanced Judaic studies, Hebrew instruction, music education, social action opportunity, and lots of fun special events.

Our religious school students end each session with a tefillah service led by our dynamic clergy, full of song, movement, and community-building! We believe that religious education is much more than learning holidays and Hebrew, and we strive to build a sense of Judaic pride within our students, and an excitement about coming together for a fun and empowering learning experience.

Fifth graders begin to attend religious school on Wednesday evenings, where they come together with sixth and seventh grade learners to further their Judaic learning through creative courses such as a series of classes on Jewish foods (with lots of hands-on learning and tasting!)

NUTSY (Youth Group)

Starting in fifth grade, kids are encouraged to participate in our youth group, NUTSY Jr, which has fun programs on and off-site, both Jewish themed and purely social.

B’nai Mitzvot

Seventh graders prepare for their b’nai mitzvot intensively as their big day approaches, and they work in small groups and receive one-on-one instruction on Wednesday evenings as they master the prayers, learn the melodies, and explore what their b’nai mitzvah means to them.

After b’nai mitzvot, our students become leaders and are encouraged to become madrichim (teaching assistants) in our school. Additionally, we partner with JT Connect (let’s hyperlink this) to offer post-b’nai mitzvah education programming to our students.

High School

High schoolers continue as madrichim and JT Connect participants, and rise to the NUTSY Sr. youth group for their time in high school.

College-Age

College-aged congregants are strongly encouraged to remain actively involved in Temple Sinai from school, and some come back to teach religious school or to attend alumni NUTSY events.

Adult Education

Adults find themselves with a variety of adult education opportunities, many of which are virtual or hybrid in order to accommodate busy schedules. We encourage our adult congregants to share their interests with us so we can work to offer programming that is specific to the interests within our community.

Family Education

Families find themselves with opportunities to participate in rich whole-family learning opportunities, such as exploring the complex problem of anti-semitism (upper grades and adult caretakers).
